WHO ARE WE?
The Place is a community-embedded learning centre in the heart of Chapelfields which was opened by University of York in late 2023. The aims are to improve opportunity, increase attainment and post 16/18 outcomes for the young people in the Westfield Ward from a community support footing.

Monday Explore: 3:30–4:30pm
Tuesday Tuition: 3.45-5.00pm
Wednesday Play: 3.30-4.30pm

REGULAR SESSIONS
Monday Explore: Each week features a focused activity with a different theme, often delivered by external providers including partner employers, University of York academic departments, and heritage partners. Monday Explore aims to build confidence, spark new ideas, and develop practical skills. This is a drop-off session for school-aged children.
Tuesday Tuition: Free 1:1 tuition with University of York students and The Place team. Academic support for York High School students to help with: GCSE preparation, mock exams, revision technique and homework.
Wednesday Play: Every week we play games, do some crafting, work our way through a puzzle, and socialise with other children and families. Drop-in session for children of all ages and their families.
